Like the history of this bit of American Morris, this dance is so convoluted and bizarre, it would take too much space to provide it here.

Black Joke:

In keeping with our tradition of using the wrong implements, we have taken a dance that is done in some traditions as a hankie dance and others as a stick dance, and made it into your hand-clapping heel-and-toe dance. Like Steamfitters, it is complicated and deviates considerably from the norms presented above, so I leave it for a separate opus.
