Shepherd's HeyBack to Uptown dances History:Created at the housewarming party of member Beth Nelson, June 1997. It is in keeping with our tradition of creating new dances with implements other than those previously used with the tune. Tune:The Shepherd's Hey Implements:Two Short Sticks Distinctive Figure:Face partners. Clash sticks with partner, as follows: /right left / under right thigh , / /right left / under left thigh , / /right left / front back / front right / left , // This time, right and left refer to forehand clashes with partner, while front and back refer to clashing your own sticks together in front of or behind your torso. Repeat sticking chorus between figures (atypical for Uptown, but the music demands it). When ending the figures, do not clash with partner, but face partner and clash own sticks together in front of you, at face level. End the dance "right up", which is to say, right stick clash with partner and then turn to face up and clash sticks together as at the end of a figure.
